Pattern and Colors that will Dominate in 2022

Every year we see colors and patterns come in and out of style. Remember when the chevron print was everywhere and grey and white dominated the color schemes? I feel like in 2022 we are going to see some great colors and patterns come into play and I’ve made my predictions below!

Color

RED is going to come in strong. Red is a color that we haven’t really seen used since the nineties, so I think it will be so great to see how this color is re-interpreted for this generation. It will be a brighter and cheerier version. I’m actually using red in a very Americana way for a current den design giving it a very coastal lake feeling with red, white and blue. The reds I see trending are anything from a bright cherry red to a red-orange. The reds being used are not muted. They are happy reds!

Along with the color red, I see a strong trend towards a blush being the new neutral. Soft pink undertones in a taupe-neutral color are different, and definitely trending. It will be interesting to see how long this one stays, but I am so excited to see a slight hue of color in this neutral. It warms up a room and brings a tint of happiness instead of dull and lifeless. I think this one is great!

Also, blue will always be a timeless favorite, but blue is going to be overshadowed this year by green. And green will come in all forms; everything from emerald green to bright spring green will be trending this year and I’m seeing it everywhere from kitchens to bathrooms, bedrooms and living rooms. If you went to Kips Bay Showhouse in Dallas or Palm Beach, you saw some sort of green in almost every room.  There are so many fabulous shades from so dark, it almost looks black, to Kelly green to a very light sage – all looked amazing.

Pattern

The block print design is running strong right now because it fits with all decor, it adds a traveled and curated feel and it complements the grand millennial chic style that is so strong right now. It’s a really diverse pattern that look great just about anywhere!

Currently, we are using this block print in draperies and pillow designs for our projects, but I’ve seen some beautiful upholstered headboards and adorable chairs made out of this print that have just been stunning.
